Course Overview

The main duties and tasks of a Construction Site Supervisor are:

• Supervision of specialist contractors

• The control of health and safety standards on construction projects

• Recording, control and reporting of progress on a construction project

• The minimisation of the environmental impact of construction projects

• Control of quality of works on a construction project

• Assisting commercial staff with the monitoring of costs on a construction project

Qualification
Non regulated provision, Level 4, Building and Construction

English and Maths GCSE's grades 4/C or above or equivalent. Individual employers may have their own higher entry requirements.

On an apprenticeship programme, apprentices will learn and develop a range of knowledge, skills and behaviours.These include:

• Understand risk assessment of activities and the importance of behaviours in safety-critical environment

• Understand the sustainability issues in projects across economic, social, and environmental aspects

• Understand different construction methods and materials

• Understand the importance of project planning and resourcing and be able to analyse different techniques

• Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers

• Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects

• Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget

• Be able to contribute effectively to meetings and present information in a variety of ways

• Be able to identify areas for improvement and suggest innovative solutions

Apprentices must complete the following approved qualifications mandated in the standard before moving to the End Point Assessment:

• A Level 4 qualification in Construction and Built Environment that meets the knowledge requirements of the standard and is approved by the industry’s recognised professional bodies meeting the educational requirements

for Technician status or the equivalent level of membership. Apprentices must also complete:

As part of the apprenticeship there is a dedicated off the job learning requirement. This is a minimum of 6 hours

per week for the duration of the apprenticeship.

Role development:

• In class delivery

• Online learning e.g. webinars, blended learning

• Manufacture training e.g. new equipment, products or technology

• Practical training

• Receiving mentorship

• Visiting other Employer’s departments

• Learning support supplied by us or the Employer

• Time spent by Apprentice writing assessments or assignments

Programme Development:

• Teaching or learning the theory related to their roles

• Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering (Construction and the Built Environment)

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you can:

Promotion in your organisation OR Progress onto a range of higher level qualifications.

Typical Job Roles: Construction Site Supervisor, Assistant Site Manager, Assistant Supervisor.
