On an apprenticeship programme, apprentices will learn and develop a range of knowledge, skills and behaviours.These include:
• Understand risk assessment of activities and the importance of behaviours in safety-critical environment
• Understand the sustainability issues in projects across economic, social, and environmental aspects
• Understand different construction methods and materials
• Understand the importance of project planning and resourcing and be able to analyse different techniques
• Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers
• Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects
• Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget
• Be able to contribute effectively to meetings and present information in a variety of ways
• Be able to identify areas for improvement and suggest innovative solutions
Apprentices must complete the following approved qualifications mandated in the standard before moving to the End Point Assessment:
• A Level 4 qualification in Construction and Built Environment that meets the knowledge requirements of the standard and is approved by the industry’s recognised professional bodies meeting the educational requirements
