Course Overview

If you wish to work in the Creative Arts industry, then this is the course for you. The course focuses on the development of practical skills, practical exploration of ideas, concepts across a range of different mediums, methods, techniques and conceptualisation that are considered fundamental to Art & Design. When undertaking practical assessments, you are expected to perform to an industry standard and use your own initiative to research required topics. The programme is designed to prepare you for employment in the exciting world of creative industries within areas such as visual art, Fine Art, Print, Ceramics, Fashion and more. You will also undertake termly industry related enrichment visits to local and national galleries and events and will receive visiting artist lecturers and yearly artist residencies will enhance your learning experience.

You will also produce a professional portfolio showcasing a range of processes and techniques, commercial, cultural and visual awareness, there will also by opportunities for suitable students to undertake work experience with local artists and to work on regional projects.

Learners who achieve the HNC qualification can progress onto the second year of the HND or onto the second year of a relevant degree course. Upon completion of the 2-year HND; learners can top-up to a full degree in a related Art & Design, Creative Arts, 3D Design, Fashion or other relevant subject area. Employment and self-employment in the creative arts sector is also an option and self promotion is an essential element of the course structure.
