Course Overview

If you’ve always dreamed about working with animals, then this course is perfect for you!

It’s taught at our Middleton Campus located in Greater Manchester. Under the guidance of expert tutors who have worked in zoos across the world, you’ll have the amazing opportunity to get hands-on experience with some of the planet’s most rare and wonderful wildlife.

We home over 700 animals, many of which are categorised as endangered species. Just some of the unique creatures you’ll learn about and care for include wallabies, pink flamingos, meerkats, potoroos and many more!

Every day has the potential to be an adventure. You’ll sometimes find yourself working indoors with exotic reptiles, amphibians, birds and fish, whereas on other days you’ll be in the great outdoors as you work from our vast animal enclosures. It’s here where you’ll also find our Tropical House.

This Level 1 qualification is ultimately designed to provide you with a range of practical skills, knowledge and understanding. You’ll finish the course having mastered the basics of working with animals, which will then open a number of exciting doors for you.

While you’ll have the grounding to enter the workforce after one year, you’ll also have the option to progress onto the Level 2 Certificate in Work Based Animal Care and continue with the next level of study.
