Course Overview

An operations/departmental manager is someone who manages teams and/or projects, and achieving operational

or departmental goals and objectives, as part of the delivery of the organisations strategy.

They are accountable to a more senior manager or business owner. Key responsibilities may include creating

and delivering operational plans, managing projects, leading and managing teams and managing change.

Qualification
Non regulated provision, Level 5, Business Management

English and Maths GCSE's grades 4/C or above or equivalent. Individual employers may have their own higher entry requirements.

Prosp User 2

On an apprenticeship programme, you will learn and develop a range of knowledge, skills and behaviours. These include:

• Understand operational management approaches and models, including creating plans to deliver objectives

and setting KPIs

• Know how to manage multiple teams and develop high performing teams. Understand performance management techniques, talent management models and how to recruit and develop people

• Understand different and learning and behaviour styles

• Able to communicate effectively (verbal, non-verbal, written, digital) and be flexible in communication style

• Able to monitor budgets and provide reports, and consider financial implications of decisions and adjust

approach/recommendations accordingly

• Able to create a personal development plan. Use of time management and prioritisation techniques

• Takes responsibility

• Professionalism

• Agile

End Point Assessment:

Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve prior to taking the end-point assessment. The apprentice must complete all elements of the on programme learning to achieve the assessment gateway requirements. The EPA consists of 5 assessment methods:

• Knowledge Test

• Competency Based Interview

• Assessment of Portfolio of Evidence

• Presentation of Work-Based Project with Q&A

• Professional Discussion Relating to CPD Activity

Prosp User 3

As part of the apprenticeship there is a dedicated off the job learning requirement. This is a minimum of 6 hours per week for the duration of the apprenticeship. This could include:

Role Development:

• Observing colleagues

• Receiving mentoring

• Shadowing

• Training

Programme Development:

• Teaching or learning the theory related to their roles

• Coursework

On completion of this standard, apprentices can progress into a wide range of employment opportunities or further education.
